Send us a short video (under 2 minutes or anything less than 10 MB file size) that tells us:
- Your name, age, grade, and class/camp you are interviewing for. (Example: John Smith, 14 years old, 9th grade, Intro to Filmmaking Session #1)
- Your favorite Director or Movie/Show, and why?
- Areas of Filmmaking you're interested in? (example: are you interested in writing, directing, producing, camera, or editing, etc.)
- Any past or present creative activities you're involved in? (examples: reading comics, creating animations, drawing, writing, musical instruments you play/have played in the past, making YouTube videos, helping friends with videos, dance, singing, theater, etc.) If there isn't anything creative you're involved in, then tell us something interesting about yourself.
For advanced filmmaking camps, answer the above, plus...
- Tell us about your past experience in filmmaking. (example: I directed a short film, I wrote a 10 page drama script that my school produced, I have attended previous filmmaking classes/camps, etc.)
Where do I send my video?
- Email your video audition to info@filmschooldallas.org
- You can also upload your video to YouTube, Vimeo or Google Drive and email us a link to it.
What happens after you send the interview video?
- Within 2 days we will watch your video and respond to you via email (the email you sent the video from) to let you know if we've placed you into the class/camp session you registered for. If you haven't heard from us in 2 days, please email or call us. Some of our summer camps that start at age 9 have fewer spaces for younger kids (e.g. 9-11 yrs old), so send your interview video ASAP for consideration.
What classes/camps require interviews?
- Summer Camps - weeklong camps (Mon-Fri, Mon-Sat) require an interview.
- Summer Camps - one-day workshops held on Saturdays/Sundays do not require an interview.
- Fall/Spring Filmmaking Classes require an interview.
